NZ Import Regulations

New Zealand's import/export regulations are under almost constant review and new standards and systems are regularly put into place. For comprehensive details on the statutory requirements for exporting seed to and importing seed from New Zealand, please contact MPI (Ministry for primary industries) New Zealand. Seed generally requires an International Phytosanitary Certificate (IPC) and often with additional declarations (which may require field or seed inspections) and/or fungicide treatment. Our premises are registered as a MPI Approved Transitional Facility and we are approved by MPI to fungicide treat & dress seed upon its arrival in NZ. If fungicide treatment is required, for small nursery lines we usually prefer to do this at our facility. We operate a MPI accredited/approved Seed Operator System, under which SST has accredited Export Seed Inspectors.

Export out of New Zealand

We can arrange the export of your seed through our freight forwarding agent.

Freight options include postage, courier, air freight, or sea freight. The cost of exporting is dependent on the freight option chosen and the weight of the consignment. We prefer to send consignments "freight collect" but in specific situations we may be able to pre-pay.
